A 45-year-old Pasco man is accused of shooting at a passing driver who he had a grudge with.

Franklin County prosecutors charged Hector Rosales-Martinez with first-degree assault in connection with an Aug. 25 shooting on a rural road about six miles northeast of Pasco.

He is being held in the Franklin County jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Rosales-Martinez’s 44-year-old victim told deputies that they previously had issues, but details about those problems were not included in the court documents.

Rosales-Martinez had allegedly threatened to beat him up and drove past his girlfriend’s house to intimidate him, court documents said.

Then shortly before noon, the man drove past a home on the 500 block of Green Road on the way to his girlfriend’s home. Rosales-Martinez allegedly was standing near the road and fired at the man’s truck while he passed.

People in the area heard the gunshots and called police. As deputies were investigating, the man who was shot at called 911, court documents said.

Investigators found one bullet hole going through the middle of the driver’s side door and found fragments of the round inside the door, police said.

The victim only knew the alleged shooter by the name “Wichol.”

When investigators arrived at the Green Road home, they asked if anyone goes by the name “Wichol,” and everyone turned and pointed at Rosales-Martinez, who was sitting in a chair and drinking a beer.

Rosales-Martinez denied shooting and claimed that he was shot at.
