Paris Police Report For Friday, August 30

Officers stopped a vehicle Thursday in the 1100 block of W. Houston for an expired registration. The passenger, Jeffery Allen Johnston, 30, had an outstanding Parole Warrant for Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle / Repeat Offender. Johnston was arrested on the warrant without incident and placed in jail.

A Paris Police Officer assigned to the Northeast Texas Auto Theft Task Force was performing vehicle/trailer inspections on Thursday when he discovered a trailer the owner had reported stolen from Balch Springs, Texas. The officer determined that someone had bought it from Facebook Marketplace and that the current owner in possession had gone to Seagoville, Texas, to purchase the trailer. The investigator determined who the victim bought the trailer from and other pertinent information. The officer forwarded the case to the Balch Springs Police Department and seized the trailer as evidence.

On Thursday, an officer recovered a stolen handgun that came to his attention after being pawned at a local pawnshop. The owner had reported the gun stolen in Westminster, Colorado in 1978. The current owner cooperated with the investigation and provided information about who sold the gun. The officer forwarded the information to the reporting agency in Colorado.

A business burglary occurred Thursday at The Reach Center on the 500 block of Lamar Avenue. The incident is under investigation, and other details may be available as the case develops.

Officers made seven traffic stops, arrested one adult, and answered 142 calls for service ending Thursday, August 29.
