More homes being sold in La Crosse

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- The Wisconsin Realtors Association said the amount of homes being sold is on the rise.

According to January's home sale data, Wisconsin sold 7.4% more homes in January 2024 then January 2023.

La Crosse's home sales have increased by 16.7%.

The price of a home has also increased, from a median price of $230,000 in January 2023 to $272,500 in 2024.  That's an 18.5% increase.

Josh Genz is President of the La Crosse Realtors Association.  He said that despite the increase in prices, people are still looking to buy a home.

"While yes it's still technically a seller's market, with months of inventory, buyers are definitely out there, they're eager to get back into the market," said Genz.

Genz added that the days a home is on the market has also been decreasing.

In January 2024, a home in La Crosse was on the market for 68 days.
