Local horse therapy program looking for spring volunteers

COON VALLEY, Wis. (WKBT) -- A local horse therapy program is looking for volunteers for spring.

HorseSense is a therapeutic adaptive riding program for people of all ages and backgrounds.  It's dedicated to improving the lives of people with and without disabilities through friendship with a horse.

Samantha Harding is the program Manager at HorseSense.

She said the program is looking for volunteer for their spring sessions.  Volunteers will interact and assist riders, and guide the horse during lessons.

Harding added that without volunteers, the program can't function properly.

"Without proper volunteer support for our riders we usually have to switch to an unmounted lesson [in] horsemanship, which is still really fun but our riders obviously want to ride whenever they can, so that volunteer is really essential for that riding aspect," said Harding.
