Dahl Honda Top Notch Teacher fundraiser benefits North Woods International, Blessed Sacrament Elementary

    2024-05-16

ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) -- An auto dealer is giving back to La Crosse area schools.

Dahl Honda partners with Viterbo and News 8 Now for our monthly Top Notch Teacher segment.

As an additional way to give back to local schools, during the month of April Dahl donated $50 from every car sale and $5 from every oil change into a Top Notch Teacher Relief Fund.

Community members then voted on news8000.com to decide which two schools receive that money.

Dahl raised more than $5,400 and Blessed Sacrament School and North Woods International School received the most votes. The schools' principals officially received checks from Dahl on Thursday afternoon.

North Woods' principal said the roughly $2,700 check the school received Thursday will go a long way.

"Some of our staff trainings and how we can better develop ourselves to better support students. We're also looking at more experiences for students that we can provide--different field trips, and different activities to get out into the community," said North Woods principal Garrett Fischer.

"In public education it's always been tough to find funding over the last couple years, so every little bit helps," he continued.

Blessed Sacrament's principal Kate Moll also expressed gratitude to Dahl, saying her school will look into

"We've got lots of field trips and lots of opportunities within the Coulee Region, we like to get our kids out of the four walls of our building as much as possible, " principal Kate Moll said.

"Then along with supporting my staff, some new furniture is a possibility, and some larger items like U-shaped tables that support small group instruction, things like that."

Dahl Honda has ran the relief fundraiser each year since the pandemic.

Dahl's VP of Operations Vinnie Pontius said their company is nothing without a strong community, so supporting local education is a worthy cause.
