Warmer Wednesday before showers return on Thursday

W H AT WE ARE TRACKING: Warmer conditions are expected on Wednesday before a cold front brings some showers and cooler conditions on Thursday.

NEXT 24 HRS: After temperatures fall into the upper 40s to middle 50s, they will climb into the 80s for most locations under a brisk south wind.  Some hazy skies are likely at times due to the smoke aloft.  Clouds slowly increase Wednesday night with temperatures only falling into the 60s.

LOOKING AHEAD: A cold front system passes through the region late Thursday, resulting in a significant temperature drop for Friday and the weekend (60s). Rain chances also increase with this frontal passage on Thursday, but rain amounts and the severe risk look low. Although a few showers are possible near or northeast of Eau Claire on Friday, most areas will remain dry and breezy on Friday and through the weekend. With clear skies and a very unusually cool airmass overhead, some areas may see their first frost of the season over the weekend. The overall weather pattern turns warm and dry for the following work week, with high temperatures returning well into the 80s.
