An Alabama man reportedly suffered an "immediate, catastrophic death" after his surgeon mistakenly removed the wrong organ, the New York Post reports. William Bryan, 70, of Muscle Shoals, underwent surgery at Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast Hospital in Walton County, Florida, at which point General Surgeon Dr. Thomas Shaknovsky removed his liver, which was mislabeled as a "spleen," causing "immediate and catastrophic blood loss resulting in death," Zarzaur Law P.A. wrote on its Facebook account last Friday (August 30). Bryan was admitted to the hospital for further tests over concerns regarding an abnormality of the spleen after experiencing sudden lower left abdominal pain while he and his wife, Beverly, were visiting their rental property in Okaloosa County.
