    Wisconsin traffic stop on motorcycle leads to drug bust: Police

    MARIETTA, Wis. (WFRV) — Two people from Wisconsin were arrested Monday after police say they found meth during a traffic stop on a motorcycle with a fake license plate.

    According to a news release , a K-9 unit with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle for displaying a false license plate in the township of Marietta.

    During the stop, the deputy discovered that 36-year-old Christopher Stewart, of Boscobel, was in possession of methamphetamine and numerous packages of suboxone strips. Additionally, Stewart had several outstanding warrants for his arrest.

    The passenger on the motorcycle, identified by police as 21-year-old Abbigail Hartner, of Boscobel, initially provided a false name to law enforcement. However, once her correct identity was revealed, she also had outstanding warrants.

    After the traffic stop, the Richland-Iowa-Grant Drug Task Force and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant of Stewart’s residence and discovered methamphetamine, fentanyl and drug paraphernalia, according to police.

    Stewart was booked into the Crawford County Jail on charges of possessing methamphetamine, possessing a controlled substance, operating after revocation and outstanding warrants for his arrest.

    Hartner was also booked into the Crawford County Jail on charges of obstructing an officer and outstanding warrants for her arrest.

    Both Stewart and Hartner have not been officially charged at the time of this article’s publication.
