French Cyclist Flies Over Handle Bars in Olympic Mountain Bike Event

An Olympic mountain biker fell hard during her race Sunday ...flying over the handlebars and crashing to the ground in a viral video.

Loana Lecomte, a French athlete participating in her second Olympic Games, was in the midst of the Mountain Bike Cross Country final race ... racing well and clearing all the challenges at Élancourt Hill, Paris.

Take a look at the video...Lecomte is racing down a steep slope when she encounters an obstacle and tumbles over the front of her bicycle, hitting the ground with a hard impact and collapsing right away.

The rider following her has sufficient time to dodge out of the way, narrowly escaping collision ... however, she appears to be in a lot of pain as the cameras quickly cut to another angle.

A video allegedly recorded at the class by an onlooker reveals Lecomte being removed on a stretcher while the gathered audience claps.

Luckily, photographers later found her standing tall, her face covered in a bandage with her coach by her side, so it seems Loana will be okay.

Lecomte secured the sixth position in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics for this event, and it's believed she was in third place before her accident, indicating she had the potential to win a medal this year.
