NFL Analyst Reveals Wild Prediction For Dak Prescott, Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have been picked by the odd analyst to rise to the Super Bowl. However, this year, the tone has been much different in the zeitgeist. With the contract struggles between CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott, and Jerry Jones hanging over the team, not many have backed the Cowboys to be all that good this year.

Analysts have also pointed to a lack of job security for Mike McCarthy and a net negative offseason as reason to believe the team can only slip this year. However, one analyst has shoved all of that aside.

Speaking on an edition of “ First Take ,” analyst Gary Striewski predicted the Cowboys to reach the Super Bowl.

“I am putting them in the Super Bowl,” Striewski said.

Not only that, but he predicted the Cowboys to be the most likely team to beat Patrick Mahomes. He went on to point toward Prescott’s league-leading statistics last season as the meat of his argument. The segment also pointed out three categories in which Prescott was as good or better than Mahomes over the last 50 starts.

Prescott matched Mahomes in passing touchdowns, but beat him in completion percentage and interceptions. Over his last 50 starts, Prescott has thrown for 105 touchdowns, 38 interceptions, and completed 68% of his passes. Mahomes’ lead in the statistical display was QBR at 71 to 66.

Cowboys enter do-or-die pressure cooker in 2024

While stating the take, Stephen A. Smith was seen rolling his eyes and looking away from the analyst in disgust. As fans of the show know, Smith views the Cowboys as a franchise impossible to back to get to the Super Bowl, let alone win it over Mahomes. Smith’s go-to statistic on the topic is that the Cowboys have not reached the Super Bowl in 30 years, going back to the mid-1990s.

At this point, the Cowboys desperately need to end the trend of playoff woes.

After the Cowboys failed to defeat the Green Bay Packers in their first playoff game of the year, the entire team shot themselves in the foot. After failing to advance deep into the postseason, all of the team’s stars now find themselves without a clear future after 2024. Prescott, Lamb, McCarthy all are in line for an extension, but Jones isn’t budging.

At this point, one can only wonder why Jones hasn’t moved on from any of the pieces already if he has no plans to sign them before the season anyway.

However, all three pieces are still stuck with the team for this year and have one last shot to impress Jones. If not, every game in January could be their last.

This will add even more pressure onto the squad in the playoffs, increasing the odds of an early exit. Of course, that assumes that Dak Prescott and the Cowboys can withstand the pressure long enough to reach the postseason.
