3 Bold Predictions For Chiefs Star Travis Kelce In 2024

The Kansas City Chiefs are in as high of a place as any franchise in the NFL could hope for. After winning two of their last two Super Bowls in the last two seasons, casual fans might expect all players to continue hitting new heights. However, for 35-year-old Travis Kelce, Father Time comes knocking at the door the same as anyone else. But it won’t all be bad news for the Chiefs tight end.

Here are three bold predictions for Kelce this season.

Less than 90 catches for first time since before Covid-19

Kelce is starting the season in better health than last year. However, the difficulty to get the attention of Patrick Mahomes will be harder overall than missing one game last year. That’s because of the additions of Xavier Worthy and Marquise Brown.

While Brown has caught the injury bug to start the year, he won’t be compromised for much of the season. As such, with Rashee Rice also stepping into his second year with more experience, Kelce will have two big new targets to compete with. He won’t be as much of a focal point of the Chiefs’ offense as in the past couple of seasons.

First back-to-back years without 1000 yards since 2014-2015

With less catches comes less yards. Kelce will be competing with Father Time as well as Worthy, a (hopefully) improved Rice, and Brown for Mahomes’ attention. Even at 35, Travis Kelce will be playing at a starting level as a tight end. However, his production will look much more normal compared to the bulk of the rest of the league.

Travis Kelce will score more touchdowns than in 2023

While Worthy, Rice, and Brown will be able to stretch the field as much as any offense not featuring Tyreek Hill in the Mahomes era, Kelce will show up when it gets tight. As such, he won’t have the massive yardage of past years to get the team into scoring position.

However, he will have the bulk of the redzone targets in big games. This will create many more opportunities to score in short-yardage plays.

As a result, Travis Kelce will earn more than the five touchdowns he earned last season.
