2 Los Angeles Chargers Fantasy Football Sleepers For 2024

The Los Angeles Chargers don’t have a ton of stars fit as must-haves for fantasy football this year. Aside from perhaps Justin Herbert, the team is full of a mix of talent.

Considering the injury to Herbert and the loss of Keenan Allen, the Chargers might not even have that to add to the drafting pool. However, with so many managers writing off the team for fantasy purposes, it will be that much easier to get a bargain on some of the players.

Here’s a look at two Chargers fantasy sleepers for 2024.

    Brenden Rice, WR

Brenden Rice is new to the NFL this season. As a rookie, a number of outcomes are possible. However, with the depth chart written in pencil this season under the direction of Jim Harbaugh, it would not be a shock to see Rice elevate throughout the year. Rice, the son of Jerry Rice, already has one of the best mentors for the position one could ask for.

Rice caught an eye-opening 12 touchdowns last season with the USC Trojans. As such, he could be a weapon in the red zone, even if his yardage totals fail to be something to celebrate this season.

    JK Dobbins, RB

JK Dobbins has a history of injury issues. As such, most managers would prefer to look elsewhere. Those looking to take their business elsewhere might miss out on a golden opportunity, however.

Dobbins averaged 5.7 and 6.0 yards per carry in 2022 and 2020, respectively. If he can stay healthy this season and usurp Gus Edwards, Dobbins could be a breakout candidate this year. However, he is going to need to win over Harbaugh first.

At this point, the biggest question for Dobbins is likely his health. Dobbins’ missed the entire 2021 season as well as almost the entire 2023 season due to injuries. However, he wouldn’t be the first running back to suffer injuries early and take off in later seasons. Both Christian McCaffrey and Saquon Barkley suffered injuries early in their careers and ended up being high-quality players in the end.

Of course, that isn’t a guarantee that Dobbins will morph into either player. But, one cannot completely rule out such a plot twist in the NFL, especially on a team that may or may not have the ability to stretch the field with their wide receivers.
