    Scrappers smash Spikes in front of a sold-out crowd

    NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – The Mahoning Valley Scrappers exploded for 10 runs across three innings on the way to blowing out the State College Spikes 16-8 in front of a sold-out crowd at Eastwood Field on Thursday night.

    Right fielder Kota Suzuki led the Scrappers with a 3-for-6 day at the plate with a double, grand slam and 5 runs batted in.

    Blake McRae, Jake Allgeyer, Issac Williams and Dreylin Holmes all recorded two hits each during the Mahoning Valley win.

    On the mound, AJ Riddle tossed 3 shutout innings and struck out 3 batters on his way to picking up the win.

    With the win, the Scrappers improve to 17-18 on the season. Next, they host the Spikes back at Eastwood Field on Friday night.
