The Casa Blanca community shows up big for a locally-made movie trailer premiere
A crowd gathered on Railroad Avenue in Casa Blanca, one of Riverside’s oldest neighborhoods. Food trucks, a DJ, and Lowrider cars lined the block. No one needs a reason for a block party in July, but they were here to celebrate. The Casa Blanca Home of Neighborly Service hosted the community gathering to support a locally set, filmed, and produced movie ¡RAZA!. Breanna Adame, an actor in the film, was glad to see such a show of love for the film. “It was amazing to see the community come together and represent Riverside. The support was overwhelming, and we can’t wait for everyone to see the full feature film.”
State-of-the art Fire Station 81 opens to serve Fontana
The San Bernardino County Fire Department and the city of Fontana recently held a grand opening of Fire Station 81. The $8.2 million state-of-the-art facility is strategically located in the north end of the city and is designed to keep pace with providing emergency response services for the city’s increasing population and development needs, according to a San Bernardino County statement. Fire Station 81, which ceremoniously opened on June 18, is 13,247 square feet and has three engine bays, one battalion chief’s bay, six crew dormitories, two captain’s dorms and a dorm for the battalion chief.

Retired Payroll Coordinator Rita Coventry is honored by Fontana City Council
Wearing a sash that said “I’m retired,” Fontana Payroll Coordinator Rita Coventry was honored by the Fontana City Council during the June 26 meeting. During a special presentation, Coventry was named the Finance Department Employee of the Year in addition to being recognized because of her retirement after 20 years of working with the city.
Happy Fourth 2024…Claremont style
City of Claremont celebrated a happy Independence Day Thursday, July 4 with its traditional fixings. Festivities began at 7 a.m. with the Claremont Kiwanis pancake breakfast, followed by a flag raising ceremony and remarks by city, regional and state dignitaries at Memorial Park. Things got in full swing by 10 a.m. when the city festival and annual parade launched. Once the culture ceases at 2 p.m., festivities will pick back up when gates open at 6:30 p.m. for the fireworks show at Pomona College’s Strehle Track, 522 N. Mills Ave., Claremont. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m.
