Brent Venables was fired up on The Paul Finebaum Show on Monday as the Oklahoma Sooners officially joined the SEC. The Sooners joined with their longtime rival, the Texas Longhorns.

Other new additions will be taking place in college football this season. The California Golden Bears, Stanford Cardinal, and SMU Mustangs are joining the ACC. The Big 12 adds the Colorado Buffaloes, Arizona Wildcats, Utah Utes, and Arizona State Sun Devils. The Big Ten is welcoming the UCLA Bruins, USC Trojans, Oregon Ducks, and Washington Huskies.

Venables mentioned how Oklahoma's school history makes a difference compared to other programs. From 1953 to 1957, the Sooners won 47 consecutive games. They also have the most conference championships in college football history.

The program has also produced Heisman winners like Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray in the past.

“We’re one of the winningest programs in the history of college football,” Venables said. “This is a program, whether it’s the 47-game winning streak or the most conference championships in the history of college football. The national championships, all the Heisman winners. The countless players that are now in the Hall of Fame, both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame."
