Oklahoma Sooners' defensive back Bill Bowman was the first member of the Sooners program to enter the media room on Tuesday at the SEC media days in Dallas, Texas, where he applauded the conference's stance on the Sooners' mock "Horns Down" symbol.

Many Sooners fans mockingly display in front of Texas Longhorns fans whenever the two programs compete against each other as "Horns Up" is one of the Longhorn's most notable symbols.

Use of the "Horns Down" resulted in a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty in the Big 12, but SEC Commissioner of Officials John McDaid confirmed through the conference's media days that its use would not be considered an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

Bowman would go on to describe the Texas fans and players being insulted by the gestures as "soft".

"If you let a hand signal effect you and effect the game, maybe you shouldn't be there... If it can't be a part of the game, that's pretty soft," Bowman told media members.

This bold statement by Bowman is sure to rile up the Longhorns program as both Oklahoma and Texas prepare for their first season in the SEC.
