Sayre’s Brayden Horton has announced his transfer to the University of Oklahoma, to continue his college baseball career. The incoming junior delivered the news via social media on Friday, after 2 standout seasons at Liberty University.

In 2023, Horton turned in a phenomenal freshman season for the Flames. The Northern Tier native earned All-Conference and All-Freshman team honors, after helping Liberty to an impressive run in the ASUN Conference Tournament. In 44 starts, the standout catcher led the team in batting average (.341), on base percentage (.471), and slugging (.543), while adding 40 RBI, 39 runs, 13 doubles, and 6 home runs.

This past season, Horton once again cemented himself as a key member of the Flames’ program. Liberty made a deep run in Conference USA Tournament, behind a team leading 11 home runs from the 2-time NTL Player of the Year. At the plate, Horton batted .274, with 39 RBI, and 34 runs, on 45 hits.

Horton will now join a Sooners program that is fresh off of a hosting bid in the NCAA Regional Finals. Oklahoma went (40-21) in 2024, falling to UConn in the Norman Regional of the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament.
