Cross Delivers $9.9 Million in Transformative Capital Funding
COLUMBUS—Yesterday, Ohio House of Representatives passed Substitute House Bill 2, the state’s two-year construction budget for capital projects throughout the state, announced State Rep. Jon Cross (R-Findlay). The bill will allocate more than $4.2 billion for capital projects in addition to $717 million in one-time project funding from the Strategic Community Investment Fund.

Wood County Special Olympics, better known as Wood County Wildcats, will have 21 total athletes attending the state games competing in track and field, bocce, and power lifting.

Bowling Green Commission Punts Decision On Selling Land Until July
The City of Bowling Green has received several bids for its unused acreage it was reported at the June 11 meeting of the Bowling Green City Commission. City Manager Pam Durrance said Sebastian Garcia of Gainesville bid $300,000 for the city's 34 acres west of Avion Palms and wanted to build 8 houses and 8 duplexes. Saul Delgado bid $50,000 for the city's 9 acres south of the wastewater treatment plant for H-2A housing and Anita Avales bid $70,000 for the property for two family homes to be built there.

BG moves to purchase land to expand water reservoir storage for water treatment plant
Bowling Green has taken another step toward expanding its reservoir capacity next to its water treatment plant that draws water from the Maumee River. The Board of Public Utilities voted unanimously Monday evening to purchase two acres that sit immediately north of the water treatment plant and west of acreage bought last year for the same purpose.
BG Boom Festival and Fireworks
In conjunction with the Community Fireworks Display on July 3, temporary road closures and altered traffic patterns will be implemented. As released previously by the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, the BG BOOM Festival and Fireworks will take place July 3 at the Northwest Ohio Tractor Pulling Championships property. A festival will be held at the Wood County Fairgrounds before the display, providing games and activities, food vendors, and a performance by the Bowling Green Area Community Band. The fireworks will be launched at dusk.
Tickets available for Wood County library fund-raiser Novel Night
BOWLING GREEN — Novel Night, the Wood County District Public Library’s annual fund-raiser, will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 18 at the Veterans Memorial Building, 520 Conneaut Ave. All funds raised during Novel Night go toward the purchase of new books and other materials. There will be appetizers, a silent auction, and a live auction. Tickets can be purchased for $100 by cash or check at the library, 251 N. Main St. Tickets can also be purchased online at wcdpl.org/novel-night-tickets.
County Park District announces monthly dog events
The Wood County Park District announced monthly dog-related events beginning with a costume parade on Friday, June 28. As part of its Dog Days of Summer program, the district will partner with the Wood County Dog Shelter on the parade which will run 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sawyer Quarry Nature Preserve in Perrysburg. A news release from the park district states dog owners can lead your dog around the trail to encounter treat stations and photo opportunities. There will be additional activities and the “parade” will begin at 7 p.m. near the parking lot.
