A Florida schoolgirl has been shot dead in front of her sister in a mysterious drive-by shooting while she was waiting for an Uber home from her friend's house.

Her family are heartbroken and investigators desperately trying to figure out the motive behind the killing that shocked a community.

Bryanna Nina, 18, was fatally shot while waiting for an Uber in North Lauderdale on Monday evening. Bryanna and her younger sister Eliana had been visiting a friend, their mom Marisol Rivas revealed during an exclusive interview with Local 10 News.

The fatal shooting occurred outside a small apartment building at the intersection of Southwest 76th Avenue and Tam O'Shanter Boulevard, according to the victim's family.

Around 6:45 pm, as the sisters awaited their Uber ride home, a dark-colored car approached, and several individuals emerged, opening fire.

“She was just outside–they were waiting for an Uber, and it’s just tragic. What I know is, that there were a few people that came out with guns, and they just started shooting. They were outside, and then they tried to run inside, and my oldest daughter wasn’t able to make it [because] she fell, and when she went inside, that’s when she realized that she got hit,” the devastated mom revealed.

Authorities confirmed that Bryanna was hit by multiple bullets and was quickly transported to Broward Health North, where she was later pronounced dead.

"We just asked, 'Are you shot? Are you okay? ' Then we saw her fall to the ground and just held her," recounted a distraught Eliana.

"She never came back," Rivas tearfully remembered, describing the moment she received the heartbreaking news from the detective. "Everything came crashing down into a million pieces."

Bryanna had been eagerly anticipating her high school graduation next year. Now, instead of celebrating her upcoming graduation, her bereaved family is left planning her funeral.

"If you have any information about the car or the people involved, please reach out. We want justice for Bryanna. This was senseless," Rivas implored.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.

A GoFundMe account has been set up by Nina's family to help cover funeral expenses and provide support for counseling costs as they deal with this sudden, tragic loss.

The fundraiser reads: "Just 18 years old, a young, kind, strong and dominant full of life and laughter waking up to fulfill another day in this world of opportunity and love of her family and friends. In the blink of an eye her life was taken. Words can’t express how her family, loved ones and friends will truly miss her and how life will never be the same without our dear babygirl Bryanna."
