A toddler who was stabbed in a supermarket car park in North Olmstead, Ohio , has passed away as police suspect that the attack was random . The young victim has been named as three-year-old Julian Wood. In the harrowing event that unfolded outside a Giant Eagle supermarket shortly after 3 pm on Monday, June 3, the boy's mother also sustained stab wounds.

Officers from the North Olmsted division swiftly detained the assailant while their colleagues administered first aid to the wounded. Despite being rushed to hospital by emergency services, the little boy was declared deceased soon after arrival. The child endured stabbings to his back and face, according to the authorities.

Margot Wood, the mother, miraculously survived the ordeal with injuries deemed not life-threatening, as confirmed by the police. Bionca Ellis, a 32-year-old from Cleveland, has been identified as the attacker, WECT News 6 has reported, reports the Mirror US .

It appears Ellis was a stranger to the victims. Court documents indicate that Ellis faced theft charges at a Walmart in North Olmsted in 2023 but was ultimately convicted of a lesser offense of unauthorized use of the property.

The reason behind the brutal assault remains unclear. Ellis is now facing aggravated murder charges, the police have announced. "Our hearts go out to the two victims of what appears to be a random act of violence," North Olmsted Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones said in her heartfelt statement.

Giant Eagle has issued a statement: "We are aware of the reported incident and are working with the authorities. For the moment, they (the authorities) are the best source for information."
