Ulster, Pa. — A New York man assaulted a woman before driving a car into a home and causing more than $25,000 in damages.

Logan Jay Bowman, 24, of Waverly was asked to return a Ford Focus belonging to his parents on July 23 just after 1 p.m., according to a complaint. Bowman refused, getting into an argument with his girlfriend in the process.

Bowman punched the alleged victim before a relative attempted to intervene, Trooper Santino Alunni said. Bowman lashed out at the mediator before leaving the home, Alunni added.

According to the affidavit, Bowman got into his car and drove over a septic tank at the home. He then crashed the vehicle into a deck. This caused $25,000 in damage and totaled the car.

Investigators recovered a firearm from the scene. Several witnesses claimed it belonged to Bowman, who is a convicted felon and not allowed to have a gun. The weapon was a silver and black Jimenez 9mm pistol.

Red marks and swelling could be seen on the victim, according to the affidavit.

Bowman is being charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, harassment, criminal mischief, and possession of a firearm prohibited. He is being held at the Bradford County Prison on $150,000 monetary bail.
