Teen arrested for kidnapping and molestation after Athens hit-and-runs

A 19-year-old Lawrenceville man is in custody after allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor, according to a news release from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department.

Around 4:54 a.m. on Monday, July 8, police responded to the 200 block of Highland Park Drive regarding a minor being kidnapped.

“During the investigation, officers located the suspect vehicle on Westchester Drive after a series of hit-and-run accidents,” says ACCPD Lt. Jody Thompson.

The minor was located and transported to a local hospital.

After a preliminary investigation, officers took Jehron Keys into custody. They charged Keys with kidnapping, child molestation, statutory rape, reckless driving, three counts of hit and run, failure to maintain lane, and unsafe tires.

Thompson says the investigation is ongoing.
