Dom Fixes Bikes: A Young Entrepreneur’s Journey to Make a Difference

Meet Dom Pecora, a 15-year-old with a big dream and an even bigger heart. It all started when Dom was just 10 years old, living in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Like many kids, Dom wanted a new bike—a really cool one called a YT Jeffsy as he recently told me on a phone interview . But instead of simply asking for it, Dom’s mom had a different idea. She wanted Dom to earn it. " I wanted to teach Dom that you appreciate things more when its earned rather than given".

That’s when Dom’s incredible journey began. With a passion for all things biking, Dom decided to start fixing bikes in his family’s garage. He worked hard, spending his free time after school and on weekends fixing bikes for neighbors and friends. Dom was determined, and after many long hours, he finally earned enough money to buy his dream bike.

But Dom didn’t stop there. With the extra money he had saved, he did something truly amazing—he bought eight more bikes and donated them to kids in need. That December, those eight kids got the best Christmas surprise ever!

As more people heard about Dom’s skills and generosity, his bike repair business, which he named “Dom Fixes Bikes,” began to grow. By the time he was 11, Dom had outgrown his family’s garage and moved into a small one-car garage where he could fix even more bikes. And his mission grew, too—Dom wanted to make sure that anyone who shared his love for biking could have a bike of their own, no matter who they were or how much money they had.

Dom’s business kept growing, and by the time he turned 15, he needed even more space. After looking at lots of different places, Dom found the perfect new home for his bike shop in Malvern, Pennsylvania. His new store has a showroom in the front and a workshop in the back, giving Dom plenty of space to fix and sell bikes. And now, Dom even sells Berg bicycles as a distributor!

But Dom isn’t just about fixing bikes. He’s also making a big difference in his community. Dom worked with local leaders to design a bike park in Tredeffryn Township, and he’s super proud that his design is going to become a reality in 2024.

When Dom isn’t fixing bikes, he’s busy with school, playing rugby, or speaking at local events. He’s a freshman in high school now, and even with his busy schedule, he still finds time to help others and work toward his goal of giving away 100 bikes every year.

Dom’s story is a great example of how hard work, determination, and a big heart can make a huge difference. He’s not just fixing bikes—he’s changing lives, one bike at a time. And who knows? Maybe Dom’s story will inspire you to start your own journey, too!
