Two steal cereal and 50 dollars from homeowner

OCEANA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two men were charged after stealing cereal and 50 dollars from a homeowner.

On June 12th, 2024, while on patrol in Oceana, WV, Pineville Police was dispatched to an apartment regarding breaking and entering. When police arrived on the scene and spoke with the victim, he advised that Justin Wade McDaniels and Guy Belcher knocked on his door that morning. They began talking to the victim about a death that occurred the day prior and made their way into his apartment.

The victim said he had a fifty-dollar bill lying beside his sink on top of his wallet. After the victim had given them some water, he asked them to leave. They did leave, but then, shortly after, knocked on the door again; McDaniels asked to use the bathroom and stated that he was hungry. The defendants entered the home, plundered through the cabinets, took a box of cereal, and went outside.

Belcher asked to wash his hands in the sink while McDaniels kept distracting the victim near the door. McDaniels knocked a table over, creating a commotion that the victim felt was purposeful.

While the victim was cleaning up the mess, he felt that something was going on. He asked the defendants to leave, and they took the cereal with them. He then checked his wallet near the sink and realized that Belcher had taken his fifty dollars while he was distracted.
