ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The Woodson Boys and Girls Club received a sizeable donation from Panda Express on Wednesday.

“We applied for a grant and it allowed us to receive $45,000 to transform a learning space.”

“So, what we did with that is took a computer lab that we had gotten new computers, and we added a learning table and air conditioning that is just for that space. So, we’re really excited for that. But then next door, we have a collaborative learning room and in that collaborative learning room, we now have new technology for video conferencing, online learning for our kids. We have new collaborative tables and the best thing about this is it’s not only for kids, it’s also this space is a community center for this area and for groups, so we now have better seating not only for kids but also for adults to meet as well so I’m really excited about that,” said Andra Jones.

“Panda Express has partnered with our local communities for the Children’s Hospital and recently we started partnering with the Boys and Girls Club. So today we, through the generosity of our guests every day in our store, we were able to donate $45,000 to open this Center of Hope here in Odessa and I think that’s one of the great things that our community is so involved but everything that we raise in store stays in store, stays in our communities which is a great thing about Panda,” said Anthony Jara, Area Operations Coach for West Texas.

“For the Boys and Girls Club, we really wanted to help everybody out and so we donated a little bit of funds for the community and basically get everybody situated so that we can celebrate the donation and help out the community,” said Carolynn Bonar.

“We have a history working with Panda Express and they’re great community partners and it doesn’t end with just this grand opening. They continue to come into the clubs, they provide food and activities for our kids as well,” continued Bonar.
