OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) – One person was injured and another arrested after a duplex fire Thursday morning.

According to police, officers first responded to the duplex near NE 23rd St. and Kelley Ave. around 1 a.m. for a disturbance. Police were confronted by one individual, but officers left once the situation calmed down.

About two hours later, the Oklahoma City Fire Department responded to the duplex for a fire. Upon arrival, firefighters noticed smoke coming from the roof and found the fire in an upstairs bedroom. One man was rescued and taken to a nearby hospital.

“Our crews immediately pulled a line, went in through the door, found the male occupant who was upstairs on the second floor bedroom,” said Maj. Matt McNabb with OKCFD.

Officials say when police responded a second time for the fire, they were confronted by the same person. That individual was later arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer on scene.

It is unclear what caused the fire or if the two incidents are connected.
