The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden, along with the Oklahoma Zoological Society (OZS), will host its first Zoo Lovers Day on April 8. This event allows supporters to donate to the zoo's mission, animal care, and conservation efforts. Donations can be made in person or online, with matching funds up to $10,000 from Jackie and Robert Tilghman. Donors may also win prizes.

The zoo will extend its hours until 8 p.m. on this day. Visitors can explore the park and the new Expedition Africa exhibit. From 1 to 7 p.m., select animals will participate in themed activities. These include interactions with Galapagos tortoises, Sumatran tigers, and Asian elephants.

The zoo will also offer a passport activity with prizes. Visitors can collect stamps throughout the park, learning about the zoo's programs and conservation efforts. Completed passports can be exchanged for a prize.

Zoo Lovers Day is a 2024 Leadership Action Project of Leadership Oklahoma City’s LOYAL program. The zoo and OZS thank LOYAL Class XVIII for their help with the event. The zoo will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the last entry at 7 p.m.

The Oklahoma City Zoo is a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the American Alliance of Museums, and Oklahoma City’s Adventure District. Regular admission is $16 for adults and $13 for children ages 3-11 and seniors ages 65 and over. ZOOfriends members of the Oklahoma City Zoo receive free admission and other benefits.
