HERMANTOWN, Minn.- Another member of the Plante family will soon call UMD home. On Friday, Victor Plante verbally announced his commitment to the Bulldogs. DULUTH — Former Minnesota Duluth captain and assistant coach Ashleigh Brykaliuk is returning to the Bulldogs bench in 2024-25 to work for new head coach Laura Schuler. Brykaliuk and Union assistant coach Olivia Soares — an alumnus of Ohio State — were both named to Schuler’s staff as assistant coaches on Friday. They’ll join Justin Grant, who was an assistant coach last year with Schuler under former head coach Maura Crowell.

In mid-July, Ski Hut hosted “Women’s Fundamentals…and Beyond” at Hartley. The first day of the two-day clinic was geared toward critical mountain biking skills. “We covered neutral and ready positions, which are the most important positions there are to be safe on your bike, and to be nice and stable,” said instructor Sandra van den Bosse. “We did climbing, we did shifting, we did cadence, we did descending, and we did a lot of cornering.”
Spirit Valley Days Gopher Golf Classic a hole in one
The 10th annual Gopher Golf Classic event kicked off Friday August 2nd. Golfers came to enjoy time with friends and family, sink a few holes, and raise money for a good cause. Duluth Huskies strike down Thunder Bay Border Cats
The Duluth Huskies scored four runs in the first three innings to fuel their 11-3 victory over the Thunder Bay Border Cats Wednesday at Wade Stadium. It’s not often that a continent-wide competition comes to the Northland, but this past weekend, that was the case. Back in September, the North American Floorball League (NAFL) and the Minnesota Growlers brought floorball equipment to Duluth Public Schools to introduce the game to young athletes in the Northland.
