(Duluth, MN) — The city of Duluth is preparing to clear a homeless campsite near city hall. City workers began posting notices around the encampment at Priley Circle this week after the city council clarified its rules on dealing with homeless camps. Tents were set up by pro-Palestinian protesters earlier this year, but the camp now mainly houses members of the city’s homeless population. The campers will have until early next week to leave the area before the city removes any remaining tents and property.

Prosecutors used DNA evidence to tie Steeprock to a 2020 shooting in Duluth. The appeals court ruled that the DNA was improperly collected from Steeprock because it was obtained by a court order rather than a search warrant. The court said investigators could seek another DNA sample before he is tried again.
