The Chicago Cubs have outrighted David Bote to Triple-A Iowa following his designation for assignment this past weekend. Bote, originally drafted by the Cubs in the 18th round of the 2012 MLB Entry Draft, passed through waivers unclaimed and will remain in the Cubs organization albeit not on the 40-man roster.

In 37 games this season, Bote has maintained a commendable .304 batting average and a .725 OPS, showcasing his continued capability to contribute even after injury setbacks have plagued him over the past few seasons. Despite these solid numbers, the Cubs opted to free up a spot on the active roster for Luis Vazquez, who was pushing the envelope down in Triple-A.
