Tennessee, Nebraska among programs in pursuit of top-100 Miami Hurricanes LB commit Jordan Campbell

Miami (Fla.) Carol City four-star 2026 linebacker Jordan Campbell wasn’t ready to fully shut down his recruitment after his sudden commitment to the Hurricanes as a sophomore, and other programs haven’t slowed their pursuit.

The No. 64 overall prospect in the On300 and No. 4 linebacker in next year’s recruiting cycle still feels the same way he did when he committed to Miami late last fall, he told CaneSport , but Nebraska, Tennessee, Auburn and Louisville have made the most notable recruiting pushes since coaches became permitted to directly call and text 2026 recruits in mid-June. He does not have any game-day visits locked in yet but is open to visiting programs with home games that align with his schedule.

Campbell said their recruiting pitches are similar to most schools and revolve around facilities, program tradition and player development, so he knows his final decision will come down to his relationships and beliefs with an individual coaching staff.

But he also knows why he was ready to commit to the Hurricanes so early in his process.

“I just felt like the grind and the work that I’d put in, and they felt the same way about the grind and the work that I put in on film, and we both liked each other so I committed,” Campbell said. “We (talk) every day. We text or we shoot each other something, a workout video or something on how to get better.”

Miami co-defensive line coach Joe Salave’a and linebackers coach Derek Nicholson have both kept in contact with the 6-foot-2, 200-pound prospect. Campbell added he and Nicholson have “a better relationship than everybody else” and knows his position coach well.

There’s an appeal to staying close to home and playing in Miami, too.

“It’s just something that we all down here want to do,” Campbell said. “We want to bring that culture back to Miami, so we have no problem staying down here and playing for coach (Mario) Cristobal.”

    CaneSport’s Take

Nebraska has had limited success pulling under-recruited prospects out of South Florida in recent years, and programs like Tennessee and Louisville have historically been able to bring some top talent out of the area. But Cristobal’s staff has slowly started tightening its grip on elite local priority recruits like Campbell, and I expect the Hurricanes to make it particularly hard for rival programs to pull a top-five linebacker out of South Florida.
