The Florida Gators hold a commitment from one linebacker in former Alabama commit Myles Johnson , but the SEC program is still hunting for some big fish.

For our premium subscribers, Gators Online ranks the Gators’ chances with each notable linebacker target.

    1. Ty Jackson , Loxahatchee (Fla.) Seminole Ridge
    On3 Industry Ranking
    : No. 74 prospect | No. 8 linebacker | No. 12 senior in Florida
Notes : Interest from Jackson has been rising as of late, especially since he attended the Grill in the ‘Ville cookout in late July. He is one of the program’s top overall targets and believes he can make a strong impact in Gainesville. It’s worth noting he is On3’s No. 1-ranked linebacker too, so this is a big-time talent. Jackson doesn’t plan to announce a decision until later this year, but the Florida Gators are sitting in a good spot as we approach the season.

    2. Tavion Wallace , Jesup (Ga.) Wayne County – ARKANSAS COMMIT
    On3 Industry Ranking
    : No. 66 prospect | No. 3 linebacker | No. 9 senior in Georgia
Notes : When speaking with Gators Online last week, Wallace said Billy Napier has turned up the heat in his recruitment. Florida’s head man has taken lead in this recruitment, with those conversations taking place multiple times a week. He also said a return trip to Gainesville is scheduled for the Kentucky game on Oct. 19. That is a big deal for the Gators. Wallace is Arkansas’ highest-ranked commit and loves his relationship with defensive coordinator Travis Williams , but it seems as if the door cracked open here. Keep an eye on Florida State too, as Wallace is a top target for both Florida programs.

    3. Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng , Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy
    On3 Industry Ranking
    : No. 80 prospect | No. 6 linebacker | No. 11 senior in Florida
Notes : If all goes as planned, Boateng will be taking an official visit to Florida during the season. He has been on campus a handful of times, but revisiting the game-day atmosphere and spending multiple days in Gainesville is something he looks forward to. He is also receiving priority treatment from the trio of Ron Roberts , Brandon Spikes and Cannon Gibbs ; however, the Gators having not received a summer OV pushed them down the list a bit. There is plenty of familiarity at UF, but an OV and possibly an unofficial visit or two will be needed. Michigan, Ohio State, USC and Notre Dame are OVs Boateng has taken.

    4. Jakaleb Faulk , Highland Home (Ala.) High – AUBURN COMMIT
    On3 Industry Ranking
    : No. 116 prospect | No. 12 linebacker | No. 8 senior in Florida
Notes : In recent months, Faulk has said Florida is the only school he is considering other than Auburn. Spearheading that recruitment is co-defensive coordinator Ron Roberts , who was Auburn’s defensive coordinator in 2023. Those conversations are taking place daily, but it will be difficult to complete a flip here. Not only is Faulk strongly committed to the in-state Tigers, but his brother is standout defensive lineman Keldric Faulk . It’s nothing Florida is doing wrong either. Faulk has real interest and connects with UF’s staff, but Auburn checks a box no other school can with his brother being on the roster.

    5. Gavin Nix , Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy – MIAMI COMMIT
    On3 Industry Ranking
    : No. 155 prospect | No. 16 linebacker | No. 22 senior in Florida
Notes : There is a good chance Nix attends Florida’s season opener on Aug. 31, as the staff invited him several weeks ago. The Orlando native met Ron Roberts earlier in the year, but now the conversations are primarily with Cannon Gibbs and recruiting assistant Larry Williams ; however, Nix is behind others on the board right now. That is a major reason why the Gators were not a serious option at the time of his commitment. We will see if anything develops here, especially if the Florida Gators beat Miami. Nix has been to the Swamp nearly a dozen times, but his commitment to Miami is very strong.
