Michigan hosted talented 2027 Cincinnati (Ohio) Anderson linebacker Antwoine Higgins in Ann Arbor for the first time at the annual late July BBQ at The Big House.

Higgins enjoyed the experience of being on campus and meeting the staff.

“The interaction was great with the coaches,” Higgins told The Wolverine . “I got to watch a little bit of the camp. Just everything was great. I got to see the facilities. The weight room was huge. Practice field, indoor and outdoor. Got to sit down and talk with Coach B.J. for a little bit.”

The tour Higgins received of Michigan’s facilities was among the memorable parts of the trip.

“Most programs don’t have the hill that they have, and the box jumps they have,” Higgins said. “Stuff like that can really help you get really explosive. So, I feel like they have a really good edge on other programs.”

Michigan linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary offered Higgins two months ago, and the barbecue was their first in-person interaction.

“It was great,” Higgins said. “He’s really into the drills. He’s not just sitting back and watching players mess up. He’s really on them and making sure everything is done with perfection. I feel like we connected really well just by only meeting one time. I feel like the connection was really great.”

Higgins’ style of play is catching Jean-Mary’s attention.

“He said he likes me because of my size and how good I’m doing so early,” Higgins said. “He just has faith in me that I can still continue on this path and possibly be one of the top guys.”

Higgins also met with Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore .

“That went great,” Higgins said. “We talked about football, the upcoming NFL season, how exciting it was going to be with all the new trades and everything. We talked a little bit about golfing. He seems great. I really haven’t got to see him coach, personally, but he seems great.”

Now that Higgins has gotten an inside look at the reigning national champions, his interest is increasing.

“I feel great about it,” Higgins said. “They play a lot of smash-mouth football. That’s the football I like. We’re trying to get up for the Michigan and Texas game.”

Michigan holds an early lead for Higgins on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

At 6-foot-3, 202 pounds, Higgins is not yet listed on the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four primary recruiting media services.

Along with Michigan, Higgins holds notable offers from Cincinnati, West Virginia, Kentucky, Purdue, Tennessee, Oregon, Illinois, and Georgia Tech.
