Elite 2027 WR Planning to Visit Kentucky for Opener Vs. Southern Miss

Kentucky football’s 2024 season is set to kick off in just about two weeks and recruits are starting to plan game day visits. One recruit who expects to be on campus shortly is 2027 wide receiver Monshun Sales .

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound wide receiver and cornerback from Lawrence North (Indianapolis, IN) told KSR+ that he will visit Kentucky for UK’s week one matchup versus Southern Mississippi on August 31. This will be his second time on campus.

“I want to see how the coaches coach the players on game day,” Sales said. “I want to see how they treat them and how they prepare them for everything.”

Sales visited Kentucky for the first time in the spring. He added an offer from defensive backs coach Chris Collins a little while later .

“I like all the coaches in the program,” Sales said. “It felt like I already had a bond with [Coach Collins] because he’s a great guy. He knows how to treat people well and talk to them. Some coaches don’t do that.”

Sales is being recruited by Kentucky to play the wide receiver position. However, he’s looking to play both sides of the ball in college.

“After this season, they will be [recruiting me to play defensive back],” he said.

Sales sees himself fitting in “very well” with Kentucky’s scheme. He likes how much the coaches expect out of the players.

“I like the way they use their players and how hard they work them,” he said. “I can work hard enough to be a part of it.”

His Wider Recruitment

Despite only being a rising sophomore, Monshun Sales has seen his recruitment reach high heights this summer. The main schools in contact currently are Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Purdue.

“It’s been crazy,” Sales said. “It’s been a lot. It happened kind of fast. I’m getting used to it now. It’s been going great.”

Sales has previously taken visits to Michigan State, Alabama, Louisville, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Michigan. Kentucky is the only visit he has planned.

“I just know I have Kentucky number one on my board,” he said.

Sales is looking for coaches with a great work ethic. He wants to be pushed at the college level.

“I want to go to the league and I feel like Kentucky can produce that,” he said.

Monshun Sales’ Game

2027 wide receiver Monshun Sales of Lawrence North (IN) is not currently ranked by the On3 Industry Ranking. 247Sports ranks Sales as the No. 14 wide receiver and the No. 95 overall prospect in the 2027 class.

“[My greatest strengths are] blocking, catching, and going 100 percent in every play,” Sales said.

Sales is looking to improve his route running this season. He feels like it’s good, but it can be better.

“Nobody can guard me, but I can improve on it,” he said. “As long as I get the ball, we’ll be good.”
