Michigan enters the third week of August with 16 verbal commits in its 2025 recruiting class.

It’s to be determined whether the Wolverines sign a full class this cycle, but with more top targets still left on the board and future seniors on the rise, it’s possible. At the top of the board are four uncommitted prospects, all listed in the Top 100 nationally by On3 or the On3 Industry Ranking.

Starting with five-star Overland Park (Kans.) Blue Valley Northwest offensive lineman Andrew Babalola , the No. 14 overall recruit and the No. 4 tackle in the country. Michigan has hosted Babalola twice this offseason, including an official visit this past June, with offensive line coach Grant Newsome and head coach Sherrone Moore showcasing heavy prioritization.

Michigan is battling Stanford, the current On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) leader, Auburn, Missouri, and Oklahoma. According to On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons , U-M is in the thick of it, coinciding with the reported momentum the program garnered this summer.

“I still think from what I hear, it’s kind of up in the air. It could go different directions, obviously,” Simmons told The Wolverine . “I would say the most buzz has been around, on my end, maybe Stanford early in the summer, Michigan after the OV. Oklahoma has been in this probably the longest of all the schools. Auburn has been a name circulating that’s been maybe in there more than people thought they were coming out of the OVs. I think those are the main four that I hear still remain in contention. Depending on what day and who you talk to, you hear maybe a different school is trending. But the most consistent on my end have been in recent days Michigan, Stanford, and Auburn.”

One Michigan target has set a commitment date for Tuesday in Top 100 Katy (Tex.) Jordan wide receiver Andrew Marsh , who visited Ann Arbor three times this summer. Wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy has built a great relationship with the family and the On3 Industry Ranking ‘s No. 87 overall 2025 prospect and No. 12 wideout.

The Wolverines have one 2025 wide receiver commit in On300 Marrero (La.) Archbishop Shaw’s Jacob Washingto and are trending considerably on the RPM to land Marsh, who would fill a need this cycle.

“That (recruitment) has been going pretty good for Michigan since the OV and since June,” Simmons said. “That one was very fluid in the spring, different schools at different times, but coming out of the OVs, Michigan’s in a great spot.”

Marsh’s most recent return to Michigan was for the annual BBQ at The Big House. Another Top 100 wide receiver who attended the major summer recruiting event was Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon’s Jerome Myles.

Myles’ trip to Ann Arbor occurred after decommitting from Ole Miss. Right now, the No. 42 overall prospect and the No. 8 wideout nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking , has a Top 10 considering of the reigning College Football Playoff winners, Miami, Ohio State, Penn State, LSU, USC, Auburn, and others.

Michigan is working towards getting Myles back on campus for an official visit. He’s only taken officials to Utah and Texas A&M. Simmons said in-season visits should play a big role in his decision.

“I think people thought he was done. He even thought he was done, (but) opened things back up. New offers have come in,” Simmons said. “Could he go to new places? I think with that, I don’t have a great pulse on that one, honestly, at this point. But I would say, if there is one that can go numerous ways this fall, that’s one of them, I think.”

On the defensive side of the ball, Michigan has zeroed in on Top 100 Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng , who officially visited in June during Victors Weekend after making his first appearance in Ann Arbor two months earlier. He’s kept a tight-knit connection with linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary .

Owusu-Boateng, a teammate of U-M offensive lineman commit Kaden Strayhorn , has yet to see a game at The Big House, so that could be in consideration this fall, with a commitment date not decided.

“If I had to lean somewhere, maybe still Notre Dame slightly there just based on conversations with people I’ve talked to. Obviously, his brother played there. He’s comfortable there. He likes the environment,” Simmons said. “But again, I think people thought he’d be committed in the summertime at one point. He’s going to take visits. Michigan is in play, USC is in play, numerous schools are involved. I think in-season visits could play a role. So, multiple schools still remain in contention.”

There are a number of 2025 prospects committed elsewhere who Michigan is communicating with and is pushing to flip, including Top 100 Chester (Va.) Thomas Dale cornerback Shamari Earls . Although Earls backed out of his pledge with South Carolina and chose Georgia in early July, he’s continued to talk with U-M defensive backs coach LaMar Morgan .

The Wolverine ‘s EJ Holland reported last week that it wouldn’t be a surprise for Earls to see a Michigan game this season, but Simmons has heard from sources that the Georgia commitment is solid.

“Everything I hear leads me to think that he’s strong with Georgia. From talking to other guys he talks to and other comments of Georgia that I know down here in the South,” Simmons said. “But look, if he shows back up in Ann Arbor, anything’s possible. I think these kids realize that the coaching carousel will go again after this season’s over with. Keep those relationships, see what happens. But right now, it seems like to me, Georgia is in a good spot to hold on, but anything’s possible in recruiting.”

Michigan’s 2025 class is listed No. 14 overall on the On3 Industry National Team Recruiting Rankings .
