Mark Pope, Kentucky basketball complete community outreach by helping build houses

The Kentucky men’s basketball team is back on campus with the beginning of the fall semester beginning this week. Before classes start, Mark Pope has taken his team on the road following the end of summer practices. The Wildcats aren’t exactly participating in basketball activities

Throughout the weekend, Kentucky has been on a team retreat that has included some community service. On Sunday, Kentucky’s X account showed what the team has been doing this weekend.

Pope and his squad are helping build a house and that included signing their names and writing bible verses and inspirational messages on the framing. The photos include the players and coaches wearing shirts that say “Kentucky’s Team” and we even get to see Pope rocking some construction goggles.

All of the work outside of the basketball building is part of the team-building process for a new team that has 12 new scholarship players. Pope and his coaching staff are attempting to enhance the relationship-building process for all of the new individuals in the program while also using their platform to help others in need.
