A look at how NFL cut day affected a number of former Texas Longhorns

As NFL rosters were trimmed down to 53 players, a number of the professional Texas Longhorns were in the news today. IT is only listing the players who had changes in their status or were perhaps a surprise to make their team.

There are plenty of Horns throughout the NFL. Charles Omenihu is expected to return from IR in late November, he tells Inside Texas. Kris Boyd is in H-Town playing. Demarvion Overshown in Big D playing LB.

IN: WR Jordan Whittington makes the Rams, LB Jaylan Ford makes the Saints, QB Sam Ehlinger makes the Colts, DL Moro Ojomo makes the Eagles.

Whittington had a fantastic preseason and appears to be a perfect fit for the Rams offense.

Released: WR Lil’Jordan Humphrey from the Broncos, RB D’Onta Foreman from the Browns, WR Collin Johnson from the Bears, S Caden Sterns (non-football injury) from the Eagles, FB Andrew Beck from the Texans.

Beck was a bit of a cult hero after his improbable kickoff return last season.

OTHERS: Patriots OL Calvin Anderson and Steelers DB Ryan Watts our out on season-ending injured reserve. They can’t play in 2024.

Cardinals OL Christian Jones and Jacksonville RB Keilan Robinson are out on injured reserve but expected to return this season.

Atlanta DB Josh Thompson received an injury designation. If he clears waivers, he’ll remain on Atlanta’s IR/practice squad.

Lions LB Malik Jefferson was released on the 23rd with an injury settlement. He injured a tendon in his hand and had surgery. He’s out 10 weeks.
