Ahead of his call of the game in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Joel Klatt has highlighted his main issue for No. 10 Michigan against No. 3 Texas .

Klatt joined during a segment on ‘The Herd’ on Wednesday to recap and preview the latest in college football , including his Top-10 matchup this weekend between the Longhorns and Wolverines in The Big House . When Colin Cowherd expressed his concerns for the maize & blue in this one, Klatt said a lot of it likely has to do with how good the team in burnt orange is.

“That’s because Texas is really, really good,” said Klatt.

As for his concern for Michigan, Texas’ overall pace is what Klatt is noting. With Quinn Ewers paired with their weapons on offense , they could be what gives some problems to the Wolverines’ defense .

“I’m not as concerned about Michigan’s offense as some. You know what I’m concerned about? Texas’ speed ,” said Klatt.

“You couple that with a quarterback that I think is as good as anybody in the sport,” Klatt said. “He’s an experienced guy with a lot of confidence that has weapons around him.”

That’s only that much harder to handle with how the rest of the team is now built at Texas. They have everything in their blueprint at this point to be one of the best teams in the country.

“Texas looks like Alabama has looked and Georgia has looked,” Klatt explained. “That’s what Sark is building. He left Alabama and he left the Nick Saban tree. That’s what he’s building from a roster. What I like about Sark has done is that he didn’t go try to copy Nick Saban from a personality standpoint or philosophy but he did look at that roster at Alabama and say, ‘Oh, yeah, that’s how you win. That’s how you win’ . This looks like an early-2000s USC team. It looks like the Alabama teams and the Georgia teams.”

“You can see it and you’re like, oh man. They’re really experienced. Oh man, their quarterback is a very good college quarterback. They’ve got talent, they’ve got speed, they’ve got toughness, and they’ve got a culture,” continued Klatt. “Like, Texas is real.”

Michigan should be able to compete to an extent at home , especially defensively with some of their names. However, even so, the Wolverines will still have a lot to handle with the Longhorns on Saturday.

“This is going to be a difficult game for Michigan,” said Klatt. “I think it’s an uphill battle for Michigan this week because Texas is really good.”
