Knox County seeks short-term State’s Attorney
Knox County State’s Attorney Jeremy Karlin is stepping down before his term ends later this year. Karlin – a Democrat and former Galesburg city council member – was elected to his first term as State’s Attorney in 2020. He’s leaving in September to return to private practice. He will be working for the James Kelly Law Firm, which provides general legal services to the city of Galesburg.

Wake Up Tri-Counties Henry County Senior Citizens Center Golf Play Day
Cassandra Schmoll from the Henry County Senior Citizens Center talked to RegionalMediaNews.com about the upcoming Golf Play Day on August 3rd, home meal delivery, and meals at the senior center in Kewanee. The annual golf play day is the biggest fundraiser for the Henry County Senior Center, and all proceeds go towards the delivery meal program. Wake Up Tri-Counties Kewanee Public Library Summer Reading with Sara Billiet
Sara Billiet from the Kewanee Public Library joined Wake Up Tri-Counties to talk about events at the Kewanee Public Library and the summer reading program. Sara said it has been a busy summer at the library, but more craft events are coming up. “Get Lost Deeper Than The Ocean In a Good Book” will end on July 13th, but the earlier you turn in your work, the better the prizes to choose from. This will be the last day to collect reading prizes for adults, teens, and children. The Kewanee Public Library is asking for feedback on the summer reading program.
Gas leak in Galesburg leads to building evacuation
GALESBURG, Ill. — Buildings are being evacuated in Galesburg after crews detected a gas leak. The leak was found near the intersection of Sumner Street and Matthews Street. Buildings within a one-block radius of the intersection are being evacuated, and barricades blocking traffic will be in place until crews finish dealing with the leak.
