“Tornado Alley” expanding Eastward, stirring up more storms around the QCA
MOLINE, Ill. — Back in 2018, storm chaser and Northern Illinois University professor Dr. Victor Gensini published a groundbreaking study on tornado patterns. He looked at tornado data from 1979 to 2017, examining trends on where tornadoes touched down and the location of certain ingredients that promote their development. Gensini found a marked eastward migration of the typical "tornado alley" many of us think of.
Holistic healing at Heart of a Veteran
The mission of Heart of a Veteran is to help veterans and their caregivers reach their health goals through holistic and alternative approaches to healing. The organization started in 2015 as a book written by 10 veterans. Jordan Holwell, founder of Heart of a Veteran, was a massage therapist with Higher Energy Massage Therapy. The 2024 Ledgestone Open will kick off on August 1st in Peoria, Illinois, featuring separate courses for MPO and FPO divisions. As the third Elite+ event of the Disc Golf Pro Tour season, this year’s tournament will not use the typically wooded Northwood course after it recently hosted the Champions Cup. Instead, over 2,200 competitors will vie for the title at Lake Eureka and Sunset Hills. With reigning champions Cole Redalen and Missy Gannon returning, the event continues its legacy as a premier disc golf destination, offering a total purse of $117,453.

In this style of raffle, there are 54 envelopes with numbers written on the outside. Each contains a playing card and is attached to a board. When filling out a raffle ticket, people write the number of an envelope — if that ticket is pulled, the corresponding envelope is opened.

‘I’m heartbroken.’ Former owner stunned at sudden closure of Galesburg Mexican restaurant
A downtown Galesburg Mexican restaurant and tequila bar has suddenly closed after just more than a year under new ownership. Workers and management were busy Monday clearing out La Cantinita Cafe & Tequila Bar, 240 E. Simmons St. By 4 p.m., bar shelves were empty and much of the furniture and other fixtures had been loaded into a U-Haul truck parked in front of the business.
