MONTGOMERY, Ala. – In May, Opelika’s Bryson McGlynn won “Master Chef Junior” season 9 . Recently, he was invited to Montgomery for some special recognition from Gov. Kay Ivey.

A release from Ivey’s office said:

After Opelika, Alabama native 12-year-old Bryson McGlynn won the coveted Master Chef Junior title on Fox TV, Governor Ivey extended him a personal invitation to join her at the Governor’s Mansion. This was not an ordinary introductory meeting. To showcase his culinary talents, Bryson offered to craft a delicious lunch menu for Governor Ivey and her friends. After Bryson introduced the first course and the group prayed over the food, Governor Ivey proclaimed Bryson ‘Chef for the Day’ in the state of Alabama.

The governor raved over Bryon’s three-course meal that ended with an Auburn, Alabama-inspired peanut butter pie. Governor Ivey told Bryson his future is surely bright and presented him with a challenge coin.

“It was truly my honor to have a lunch made by Bryson McGlynn, an Opelika celebrity. Not only did he whip up an excellent meal, he lit up the room with his infectious personality really highlighting what it means to be an Alabamian. Alabamians have so much to offer the world, and Bryson certainly showed us that today. He is going places!” said Ivey.
