Millers River Band to perform at Dinner by the River
ORANGE, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Orange’s annual Dinner by the River on August 10th will have the Millers River Band perform, bringing the band back riverside for the first time since 1993. The event is hosted by the Orange Revitalization Partnership and will also feature an art show, raffles and dinner from Black Crow Catering.
New compost program coming to Riverside
GILL, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Gill residents will soon have access to a new weekly compost collection site near the Riverside Municipal Building as the current food waste pickup program is ending in August after minimal participation. Residents can drop off compost at the collection site, which will be brought to Martin’s Farm in Greenfield, who also accepts compost from several transfer stations in the county.

"Jaws" isn't the only reason to avoid swimming on July 4 at beaches and other swimming areas throughout Massachusetts. The state Department of Conservation and Recreation posts twice-daily water quality test results for beaches and ponds under its purview at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on the Mass.gov website. As of Wednesday, July 3, 30 such areas were closed to swimming, with most due to high bacteria levels and an occasional cyanobacteria bloom popping up here and there.

Driver dies in crash that closed highway near RI, Mass. border
A Massachusetts man died in a three-vehicle crash that closed the westbound side of Interstate 195 near the Rhode Island border for several hours Tuesday afternoon, according to the Massachusetts State Police.
