‘She was such a light to us.’ St. Louisans remember media veteran Tammie Holland
Tammie Holland, a proud St. Louis native and beloved media veteran, died July 20, three years after receiving a cancer diagnosis. She was 53 years old. As friends, family and fans reflect on Holland’s impact on the region, the word “light” is written in various posts mourning her death. When it comes to New Madrid Fault earthquakes, I think I've now seen it all. There was just a tremor that shook a neighborhood in O'Fallon, Illinois Saturday morning. I had to do a double-take when I saw this earthquake appear on the USGS earthquake map this morning. It was a 2.4 magnitude quake in a subdivision in O'Fallon, Illinois and it's been confirmed by a USGS seismologist. It was centered here.

Festus freshmen win American Legion title
Josh Taylor now occupies a unique niche in the storied history of Festus American Legion baseball. The first-year manager of Post 253’s freshman (A) ballclub led the team to the state championship July 19 at Cape Girardeau Central High, with Festus edging hometown Post 63 2-1. Taylor played for manager Pat Bone when Festus won the senior (AAA) state championship in 2005. That makes Taylor the first person in Post 253 history to win state crowns as both a player and manager.
