Early this week Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) rescued a deer that had been living with a bucket lid around its neck.

CPW had been getting reports dating back to Aug. 12, and Local District Wildlife Managers had tried multiple times to locate and immobilize the doe to remove the lid.

Finally, DWM Cody Rarick caught up to the doe on Sunday night and successfully darted her. He removed the lid, and the doe was given a reversal drug. The deer was also issued ear tags so that hunters it has recently been tranquilized.

The doe has two fawns who stayed close while the officer removed the lid from their mother. She reunited with her two fawns after being given the reversal drug.

"It was only thanks to the Pagosa/Aspen Springs community for keeping an eye out and for the multiple folks who care deeply about our wildlife making reports that we were able to track this deer down," CPW wrote in an X post .
