The National Trust for Historic Preservation (NTHP) recently awarded the Nelson’s Old Riverton Store with a Route 66 Legacy Business Grant this year from funds designated to recognizes the value of the long-standing local businesses that contribute to the Route 66 experience. Small, locally owned businesses are the heart and soul of Route 66. The goal, besides recognizing these small, locally owned businesses, was to help make the preservation of Route 66 structures economically viable.
