The Owatonna girls golf team made its return to the Owatonna Country Club, as the Huskies hosted Austin and Albert Lea in the Big 9 Conference triangular meet on Tuesday. Owatonna came out on top, shooting a team-low 369 against Austin’s 385 and Albert Lea’s 404.

Sophomore Carmen Jirele was the top golfer among all teams by being the only one to shoot under an 80. Jirele finished with a 77 after shooting for par 11 times with one birdie, which includes six pars and the birdie on the front nine.

Senior Danika Kaytor and sophomore Paige Thompson finished fourth and fifth overall and second and third on the team with a 92 and a 94 respectively. Kaytor shot for par six times and Thompson shot for par four times.

Junior Anna Mollenhauer finished fourth on the team and ninth overall with a 106. Sophomore Alexie Olson followed by tying Albert Lea’s Ayva Murray for 15th overall with a 112. Fellow sophomore Brynn Andrix rounded things out in 18th overall with a 117.

The Huskies are two matches down in a three-match week following the Byron Invitational and the home triangular. Owatonna closes out its week by traveling to Eastwood Golf Club on Thursday for a triangular meet against Northfield and hosts Rochester Mayo.
