An Oxford man was arrested Tuesday by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly having two stolen guns.

At about 11:45 a.m., deputies received a call about a suspicious person on County Road 119. The deputies found the suspect, later identified as Antavious Dukes, 21, of Oxford.

When deputies tried to stop him, Dukes dropped two firearms in a ditch. Dukes was taken into custody and deputies recovered the two guns. One was reported stolen and the other had the serial number scratched off.

Dukes told investigators that he threw the guns and allegedly admitted to stealing both weapons.

He was charged with two counts of possession, sale or transfer of a stolen firearm and booked into the Lafayette County Detention Center. His bond was set at $20,000, however, it was revoked due to pending felony charges.
