The college football world is giddy with excitement as EA Sports is set to release its College Football 25 video game on Friday, July 19. While Ole Miss fans are preparing to play with the Rebels it's important to know where Lane Kiffin's group ranks.

As a team Ole Miss checks in with an 88 overall rating which is good for a seven-way tie at ninth in the game. Other teams rated at an 88 are Penn State, Utah, Miami, Michigan, Florida State and Texas A&M.

Though it's nice to be viewed in the same respect as some of the nation's elite programs, Ole Miss should have a higher rating than a handful of those schools along with a few more with an even strong rating. For example, LSU, Notre Dame and Clemson all received a 90 overall rating. It's more likely than not that Ole Miss will enter the 2024 season ranked higher than the aforementioned programs in preseason polls.

Even more shocking is that Ole Miss' offense, a unit that has received tons of buzz already, ranks T-10th in the country with a rating of 87. EA Sports clumps the Rebels with Penn State, NC State, Arizona, Kansas, Clemson and Utah.

The most jaw-dropping assessment was Colorado's 89 overall ranking for its offense, which is so egregious that most fans were able to see through the marketing tactics behind this designed to drive discourse centered around their product. Not to mention, the Buffaloes have an 87 overall rating as a team, which is certainly enough to raise a few eyebrows after the team's 4-8 (1-8) finish in 2023.

At the end of the day these ratings really don't matter, but if they help lend Ole Miss some extra motivation then it's for the better. One thing is for sure, the Rebels are still not getting their due respect and it will be up to the coaches and players to earn it in the coming season.
