Ole Miss Coach Lane Kiffin Addresses Paul Finebaum's Fiery Criticism

    By Benedetto Vitale,

Paul Finebaum of the SEC Network recently took a not-so-subtle shot at Ole Miss coach, Lane Kiffin. Finebaum simply doesn't find Kiffin funny and even called his coaching "underwhelming." The Rebels head coach couldn't help but respond on social media.

Lane Kiffin tends to have fun on social media and every so often will poke fun at other coaches across the nation. After roasting LSU coach Brian Kelly and Missouri Tigers coach Eli Drinkwitz, Finebaum shared his disdain toward Kiffin.

During a discussion with Tulsa World's Berry Tramel, Paul Finebaum revealed that he simply doesn't find Lane Kiffin funny. Finebaum took it a step further and called Kiffin's coaching "underwhelming at times."

"Everyone in the media, Berry, we're on the older statesman side of it, is in love with Lane Kiffin. They think he's hilarious. I don't think he's that funny. I don't think his tweets are that interesting. And his coaching has been underwhelming at times. So, I'll see it when I believe and I haven't seen enough for me to believe right now."

To put it simply, Finebaum just doesn't see Ole Miss as a threat to make the College Football Playoffs with Lane Kiffin leading the way. However, the veteran head coach took to social media and sent a message to Finebaum himself.

"Why so angry Paul? I think you’re funny . Also ⁦[Tennessee baseball] won the Natty!!! How can you be in such a bad mood??"

At least Kiffin kept it light-hearted. If he wanted to he could've blasted Finebaum however he wanted. But instead, the Ole Miss coach kept his cool while also calling out the SEC Network star.

The Rebels have a chance to make some noise next season as Lane Kiffin has built a solid program. Ole Miss finished last season with an 8-5 record after losing five of their last six games. It wasn't a great year for Lane Kiffin and his team but they could prove to be a tough unit moving forward.

Kiffin has 26 years of coaching experience and will be entering the 27th season of his career. He's coached at numerous locations throughout his tenure, such as the Oakland Raiders, Tennessee Volunteers, the USC Trojans, Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Atlantic, and Ole Miss. Lane Kiffin holds a 94-49 record in college football and he'll aim to hit the 100 wins mark of his career this upcoming season.

Although Paul Finebaum doesn't think of Kiffin or the Rebels highly, Ole Miss should be competitive next season. They'll give plenty of teams a run for their money, at the very least. If they can get enough wins, we could see Lane Kiffin lead his team to the playoffs for the first time.
