The college football season is just about a month away from kicking off. One sign of that is conferences holding their media day events in anticipation of the upcoming season.

SEC media days are taking place this week, and the Ole Miss Rebels were one of the teams that drew attention in the first round of teams at the event. The Rebels are fresh off an 11-2 season, and some think they could make their first College Football Playoff.

ESPN's Greg McElroy was asked whether the Rebels would surpass or underperform their 9.5-win total in 2024. McElroy expressed confidence that the Rebels will exceed expectations due to the additions on the defensive line.

"I actually think Ole Miss is probably a 10-2 football team," McElroy said. "With what they added along the defensive line of scrimmage, I think they're more well-equipped to handle the circumstances and challenges of this league."

McElroy pointed out that Ole Miss has a "sneaky tough" schedule. He specifically mentioned challenging games against South Carolina, Kentucky, LSU, Florida, Oklahoma and Georgia. He believes the conference games will be tough, but he described the non-conference schedule as "a laugher."

Ultimately, McElroy thinks the Rebels will handle their schedule just fine and surpass the 9.5-win total.
